Working on building a network test environment in GNS3. The environment will duplicate the current spine/leaf network with fortigate appliances at the boundaries. Future developments will incorporate SONIC appliances. The test environment allows the use of git to keep the ansible repository up to date with the production config. The ansible config is then pushed out to the test/dev GNS3 environment before being merged with the production repository and deployed to the production network.
Completed a multi site spine/leaf network deployment. Using Smartoptics multiplexers with Inphi optics we were able to establish 4 x 100Gbps links over two diverse path fibre pairs. These links connect the spine switches at three different sites. Switches are Mellanox SN3700C for spine and leaf with Edgecore AS4610 for top of rack and out of band management. All switches use Cumulus NOS and config is deployed from ansible. 2022 saw the inter DC links expanded by a further 4 x 100Gbps providing a cumulative 800Gbps diverse path meshed WAN.
Commissioned a 256 node HPC cluster called kunanyi using 16 Huawei chassis with 16 nodes each. Each node has 28 Intel CPUs, 128GB RAM connected by 100Gbps infiniband. Storage was initially provided by a DMF backed system but was replaced by a Ceph cluster in 1019. The OpenPBS cluster was built using OpenHPC on Centos 7. In 2021 and 2022 additional nodes were incrementally added with 128 CPUs each and 1TB of RAM. These nodes have 2 x 100Gbps links to the Spine/Leaf network.
